What are you feeding your pets?

It's not unusual for our clients to ask us, "What should I feed my pet? What do you recommend?"

We have always researched pet food by looking at the first few ingredients because, like most people, we've been told that these were the most important, and that "meat" should always be the first one. Then, the next most-important criteria was the "guaranteed analysis" section.

What you don't know about your pet's food can hurt them.

Did you know that our pets, genetically, can live to be 20 years old, but that the current average is only 13 to 15 years? Why is that?

There are lots of factors that influence the longevity of your pet's life, like environment, health care, etc., but one of the most important factors is the nutrition you provide for them.

Pet nutrition experts now say that ingredients in your pet's food like wheat, corn, and soy can shorten their life spans by causing stress to their kidneys and liver — and can also be major allergens to our pets.

Unbelievably, ingredients that show up on pet food labels as "meat by-products" can actually include chicken heads, duck bills, fish heads, poultry feet and bones, and may also include diseased or contaminated slaughterhouse meat!

Additives used to provide a longer shelf life for the product like BHA and BHT are harmful to our pet's liver and kidneys. Ethoxyquin is an additive used to keep fats from turning rancid. It's also used to stabilize rubber. All three of these have been categorized by the National Institute of Health's National Toxicology Program as being likely carcinogens.

Don't take chances with your pet's health. Here's what we recommend.

We have recently discovered a complete line of pet nutrition products from Life's Abundance that impressed us so much, we not only use it for our own pets, but are offering it for sale to our clients for their own "fuzzy buddies."
